Review" This pair has put out two great albums of Irving Berlin songs(the other being "Blue Skies"). It contains what Noel Coward said was the best love song ever written - "Always". There is the poignant love song, "All Alone" that describes loneliness even with current technology that can span separation with the marvel of the telephone. It is the genius of Berlin that he can reveal in simple terms complex profound emotions. There is "Suppertime" in which a wife sings about the profound loss of her husband because of his being a victim of racial prejudice in the great crime of lynching. Then there is the great song we hear in winter, "White Christmas"(for many a year the greatest selling song that spawned two movies with the great crooner, Bing Crosby,) but here you hear the verse that gives the song its context. When Jerome Kern was once asked what place does Irving Berlin occupy in American music - Kern replied that "Berlin is American Music". No better statement can sum up Irving Berlin."
