You will see nail holes, screw holes, nails, discoloration, scratches, dents, and many other variations. Each of these markings is a glimpse into the history of your shelves. You may see holes from a mortise and tenon joint or other time-honored wood joining techniques. You may notice where a hinge or hook is used to hang.
